Humane Society of Catawba County’s (HSCC) Pet Food Pantry is to help people and their families who are facing challenges in their pets.
One in four pet owners who surrender their pets to a shelter say it is because they cannot afford to care for them. By HSCC providing temporary food assistance, the pets stay in a loving home. Many people will feed their pets before they feed themselves or feed their pets scraps from the table, which can cause serious health concerns for the pet. Our goal is to provide supplemental pet food support for pet owners. (Please note we will not provide food to those feeding feral cat colonies.)
HSCC will provide free pet food for 3 months or less from time of request. To continue using the Pet Food Pantry for longer than 3 months, all pets belonging to the client must be spayed or neutered and current on their rabies vaccinations. HSCC may provide assistance with spay/neuter and vaccines, tests, etc. upon request. Assistance will be on a case-by-case basis. HSCC does not provide any medical assistance for a client’s pet other than essential spay/neuter, vaccines, and tests.

HSCC reserves the right to remove clients from the program at their discretion.
NOTE: HSCC’s Food Pantry relies on support from the community to help collect food to support their mission. Sponsoring a food drive can be easy, fun, and rewarding. Encourage friends, family, businesses, churches, or schools to get involved and participate.
Pick up hours are between 1:00-3:00 p.m. from the HSCC Shelter located at 3224 20th Ave. SE, Hickory, NC 28602
