The decision to spay/neuter your pet is an important part of responsible pet ownership. Sterilized pets live longer, happier, and healthier lives and cannot add to the pet overpopulation problems that exist in our community.

Did you know each day 70,000 puppies and kittens are born? As a result, millions of healthy, loving cats, dogs, kittens, and puppies face early deaths as a form of animal control. Others are abandoned and left to fend for themselves against automobiles, the elements, other animals, and cruel humans. This problem is a serious one in our community.

“Humane Society of Catawba County is proud to offer low-cost spay/neuter services to the public through our two on-site clinics: Foothills Spay/Neuter Clinic at our shelter location and Foothills Animal Health Center in Claremont. These services are available for all pets, regardless of residency in Catawba County.

Feral cat package appointments MUST be scheduled by calling the shelter at (828) 464-8878. These appointments can not be scheduled online.

HSCC has a number of grants available to assist families who may not be able to afford spay/neuter services at this time. For more information please email emily@catawbahumane.org

All rabbits must come in a carrier with food the morning of surgery. The food needs to be either Timothy hay or pellets. Do not send a bowl of water, but a bottle attached to the kennel is acceptable.

All rabbit owners, please note that your animal runs a higher risk than a cat or dog due to their heart. Rabbits can easily be scared, stressed, or surprised which can increase their heart rate. We take every extra measure we can to keep all rabbits calm and comfortable to help ensure a smooth surgery and recovery!
