Spay/Neuter Program:

Humane Society Of Catawba County offers a low cost Spay/Neuter services through our SNIP Regional Spay/Neuter Clinic located at 3224 20th Ave. SE, Hickory. Call 828-464-2FIX for appointment information.

There are thousands and thousands of companion animals that end up being euthanized in county shelters every year due to pet over-population.  By spaying/neutering, you can help reduce the number of unwanted pets.

Your pet will also be less at risk for health problems when you have them spayed and neutered.  It really IS so important, for many reasons!  (Please feel free to call us or your vet for more information).
How It Works:

1.  You will need to fill out a carbon copy registration form for each pet you wish to have spayed/neutered.  This form is only available at HSCC during business hours Monday-Friday 12-5:30 pm; Saturday 12-4 pm.

2.  You must pre-pay (by cash or check) in order to reserve your pets' appointment. Space is limited.
Cost: (cash or check only).

$57 (male dogs & male cats)
$67 (male dogs over 80 lbs)
$67 (non-pregnant female dogs under 80 lbs)
$67 (non-pregnant female cats)
$75 (pregnant cats)
$80 (pregnant dogs & female dogs over 80 lbs)

*If you do not have a current Rabies Certificate for your pet, you will be required to have a Rabies Vaccine for an additional $8.

* Cats can come in the same carrier when you bring them in but they MUST leave in seperate carriers going home. If you don't have enough carriers you can purchase cardboard carriers from us for an additional $7 each.

Sorry, we accept cash or checks ONLY.  We do not accept credit cards at this time.
When It Happens:

YOU MUST HAVE A RESERVATION!

(please read "How it Works", above)

Bring your pet to HSCC between 8-8:30am on your pre-scheduled surgery day. We are not able to accept pets any earlier than that. You must wait for a HSCC staff member to check-in your cat or dog.  Make sure your pet has not eaten since 10 p.m. the night before.

Dogs must be on leashes, cats must be in carriers! If you don't have one you may purchase a cardboard carrier for $7 and pick it up when registering. (HSCC recommends that all cats travel in carriers when being transported...for their safety AND yours!)

Pick Up: You should be able to pick up your pet by 5 p.m. on the same day. Call 828-464-2FIX to check on your pet after 3:00 p.m.

Note: The shelter closes at 5:30 pm.  Animals may NOT be left at HSCC overnight!
IMPORTANT!!

You MUST provide current proof of Rabies Vaccine (non-expired) for each pet having surgery, or you will need to pay an additional $8, and the vaccine will be given at the time of your pets' spay/neuter surgery.  You may also add additional vaccines and heartworm tests and Feline Leukemia/FIV tests for an additional fee.

Please ask a HSCC staff member about services available when you schedule your appointment.
